Quitting
May 5, 2007
I guess I ought to post quick update on the quitting smoking deal.
Believe it or not, it hasn’t been that bad. I’m not crawling the walls, I’m not longing for a smoke, I’m not gaining weight (I’ve actually lost a few pounds) and I’m not stressed out.
Heck, if anything I’m mellowing out a bit.
The only side effect to quitting smoking that I have noticed is that there have been times where I sort of felt like sixteen ounces of coffee in an eight ounce thermos. Not sick exactly, just kind of off. I guess that’s just my body getting used to not having a constant flow of caffeine and nicotine running through my system.
Everybody always says that the first week is the worst, so I guess the next few weeks will be a breeze.
I’ve got to hand it to the folks who make chantix. The stuff seems to work.

Actually the first week is the easiest. After 20 years of smoking then quitting cold turkey, it caught up to me about 3 or 4 months later. Guess my system took a while to get cleared out then freaked. Not trying to jinx ya or anything, just warning ya it might sneak up on ya. Congrats though on a great move.
