Two more practice videos
December 4, 2007
First we have Steve in the UK working on The Baltimore Fire:
Second we have Carl in the USA working on his frailing strum with some hammer-ons:
They both asked for feedback, so here goes:
Steve, slow it down and force yourself to sing louder. It might help to over-enunciate while you are practicing.
Carl, you’re doing fine. The only thing you might want to mess with now is replacing the strum with a rest here and there to lighten things up.
Great job guys!

Thanks Patrick, I will definitely work on that. Getting over that first big hump of trying to keep the frailing rhythm going to finally having it feel natural and just flow is a major deal. Once that happens, seems like everything starts to open up and feel do-able.
Thanks again so much for all you and your dad are doing for all of us.
Your friend in Toledo,
Carl

Steve
Really impressed with your banjo playing, your coming along great guns, as for the singing I can see from the video you are not that confident yet, its a whole new ball game singing, a lot of it is confidence in your self which is something you have to work at, it will take time …… but it will eventually come, but your banjo playings great , no problem there

Hey Patrick
Thanks for posting my video up there – i think hahaha
appreciate your comments and support.
And Karl, great to hear from you again! Yes you are right it is a confidence thing and hopefully with practice I’ll get better.
I remember when i was about 6 or 7 at primary school we had to try out for the school choir in order to play in the football team…and we had to sing “morning has broken”….anyway needless to say i didnt get in !
But i am pleased with the progress made on the banjo playing, and i am really enjoying the process
