Hi Patrick,
Just a reminder that I have a very useful "open D" chord chart posted at my web site: http://www.personainternet.com/harleys/tunings.html
plus other alternate tunings as well.
By the way, your Crisfield Guitar frailing (Travis Picking/Strum) style is dead on with what I have been using.
A Note to All: To further increase one's speed picking skills, alternate the thumb and index fingers when picking individual melody notes (while keeping the basic "thumb, strum. up-index" pattern going. Try It! and Good Luck!

Nice one Patrick--interesting, informative, and inspiring. Thanks again for your generous help. You young fellas out there and anyone else who hasn't heard of them--check out John Fahey, Leo Kottke, and Peter Lang for some cool solo guitar instumentals that are accessable with open tunings. Lots of fun!

Thanks Patrick - I was just going to ask you to video the setup on a resophonic guitar if you have one taken apart, and have the time. If you get in a tricone if would be cool to throw that into the mix. In any case this was informative, and timely for me. I've been searching through the blog for all slide related materials.

Patrick: Thank you so much for all time and effort you put into your music lessons. Some of us are not quite up to speed and we can't pick up things so fast. I am hung up on Buck Dancers choice on the guitar. I am not too worried about the banjo as I think I will be able to get that. But I cannot figure out the pinch lick you are showing on the guitar. Is that in your guitar book? If so I would like to get it.

You must be psychic - I was just wondering about biscuit bridges, and whether they would be "better" than the spider bridge on my Gretsch. (I was thinking about getting a metal body resophonic, but the ones I was looking at were biscuits.)
