Happy Campers

We head a great time at the Spring Thing with Sergeant Jon, Fred and Charles. Lots of music and lots of laughs.

Sergeant Jon is a great guy. I can’t wait until we can get him jamming with Gunny Mike!

The Cow Bell Band

May 25, 2008

Tim in Korea writes:

cow bell bandI slapped together a google page and added a picture and a couple of audio recordings from my rehearsal today with the Cow bell band. It may be interesting to people to hear the bells and the musical saw. The cow bells are extremely loud, Patrick, I don’t think you would even have any trouble hearing them.

Anyway, it’s not really my style of music, but it’s a good experience for me. It’s forced me to start fooling around with 3/4 time which wasn’t something I was doing on my own. And it’s great practice to play music with others. I’ve been trying hard to convince someone to step forward to be my first banjo student. No takers yet. Oh, and through my connections with this band, I met a Korean man who plays three finger banjo. He, a guitar player, and a mandolin player, are trying to learn some bluegrass. They speak limited English, but one of their wives is an English teacher. So, I’ll be trying to meet up with those guys soon too. So, you were absolutely right. Good things happen when you just go out and use music to meet new people.
