Busy as a bee

little bug

Last week was not quite as productive as I hoped. I got a lot accomplished, but the medicine I am taking for my ears has things a little screwy. My hearing comes and goes. My ears get filled with crazy rushing and ringing sounds. It is hard to think, sleep or make music.

This evening Joe from Pennsylvania stopped by for a quick visit and got a chance to pick on the Somerset S-1 prototype. It was a real treat seeing Joe again, and we hope he comes back real soon.

This week we have workshops from Steve in Ohio, Kelly from Chicago and Carlos from Spain to upload over the next few days. Seeing so many of you sharing like this makes me very proud and very happy.

We are also expecting the arrival of two prototype banjos this week: the Somerset S-3 with a ten inch pot, 24″ scale and hand fitted rosewood tone ring and the Somerset S-4 with a 12″ pot, brass tone ring and flush frets from one to four.

While all of this is happening I am going to keep plugging away at the books. I can’t work as fast as I would like, but I am enjoying myself. It is Autumn in Crisfield. I have my computer, my cigar box banjo, a pot of lapsang souchong (thanks, Fred!) and Simca the feral alley cat is sprawled out next to me. Life is good.

See you next week,
-Patrick
