Hi Patrick,

Long time reader, first time contributer. I finally figured out how to get a movie file uploaded to “You Tube” so I thought I’d pass along my first attempt at trying to record myself playing for the camera. I’ve still yet to master this technique, as the sound is shaky and my heads cut off, but I think the banjo comes across OK. Thanks for all the great lessons and I look forward to reading your blog everyday.

This is a version of Cripple Creek that I like to play.

Played with a real passion and joy for the song… loved it!

Where did you get that up the neck thing? Pretty impressive. Nicely done!

  3. Steven Reardon Says:

Thanks for the feedback. The up the neck part is a duplicate of what I play lower only based up at the twelfth fret where everything repeats.

Now I have to learn the up the neck part. Great tune, great playing.

Wonderful! This is such a fun song to play, but even more fun to sing. And I’mo go try that up the neck technique myself right now!

Great version. Lots of fun and energy.

I would play the up-the-neck part if my neck angle wasn’t so terrible (action up there is almost unplayably high). Hopefully I’ll be able to afford my S4 sometime in the near future, and let Chris do it right.
