seagull

I am slowly adjusting to being able to hear again. There have been some awkward moments – including an incident that reminded me of a bit from The Naked Gun . . . but we won’t got into that here.

Now that I can hear, my little British brother has been torturing me with bad music. He sent this little bit of sonic effluvium yesterday:

I retaliated with this:

Then I upped the stakes and sent him Turkish Star Wars:

I am worried that I may have gone too far . . . Turkish Star Wars and Lawrence Welk can be a volitile combination.

It hasn’t all been bad music and B-movies. I spent a while at Brick Kiln yesterday listening to the waves. I get a little bit of wind noise in the BAHA, but not enough to complain about. It was wonderful to be able to hear the seagulls again.

We have somebody coming up from North Carolina for a visit today. It’ll be interesting to see how well I understand everybody – and even more interesting when we sit down to pick a few.

On Tuesday Dear Old Dad and I are heading to town to do our usual business meeting routine. We’ll talk business on the way to town, think about what we discussed while we watch a movie (Inglourious Basterds), stop for hoagies and formulate a plan of action on the way back to Crisfield. I can’t wait to be able to hear a movie without sneaking my Zoom H2 and a set of headphones into the theater. Heck, just being able to talk in the car will be wonderful!

We may stop on the way home  to check out bicycles. My knee still hurts like hell won’t have it if I walk too long, and I really miss hiking down to the docks. The only problem is figuring out what to buy. Crisfield is almost perfectly flat, so I don’t really need anything fancy. I’ll have to shop around a bit.

Well, I have to tune up the old banjo and get things ready for company. I’ll post an update tomorrow.

I know someone that has knee problems from doing Judo.
Bicycle REALLY helps him. But one thing you have to get is braces on the pedals for your foot so that your leg and knee are always straight. This will allow your knee to work in a proper way, making it stronger. If you don’t you might be pedaling at an angle making your knee work kinda sideways and it might make things worst.

It’s the same when walking or running, you have to keep knee straight facing the direction you are going. People tend to walk like ducks, like those hiphop singers on TV, every time you take a step the knee absorbs a little bit of force from the side (you move in one direction and your knee face another). Over time this can lead to knee problems too.

Well I’m no doctor or physiologist but get a bike with braces for your foot to keep your knee in line.

    Have a nice trip. :o )

I hear from friends that Inglorious Bastards is good, but I recommend District 9 instead, if you haven’t seen it yet.

  6. Funny unrelated thing about Turkey… I recently read that the small Turkish town of Batman (on the Batman River) sued Christopher Nolan.
