Hosanna (You Read Me Wrong)

Hiya Patrick,
Hope your knee’s recovering nicely with the bionic implants or nano-tech goop they’ve got these days. This video’s for the folks who’ve been fearing I lost my way with the banjo. This is a silly folk song I wrote about sneezing and hurting my back – proof that it really doesn’t take divine inspiration to write a song. Hey, I said nothing about it beeing a GOOD song. :D

Hosanna

this [g]time it only [d]took
two [c]beers to write this [g]song
to-[g]day I sneezed and [d]broke a rib
and [c]now my back's all [g]wrong

you can [g]laugh all you [d]like
[c]tell me i'm gettin' [g]old
but [g]it ain't no [d]secret
[c]I'm gettin' [g]old

ho-[c]sanna ho-[d]sanna
i [g]think you read me [c]wrong
it [c]takes two wrongs to [d]make me right
and [g]two beers to write this [c]song
ho-[c]sanna[d]
you read me [g] wrong

[g]maybe i'll stay [d]home from work
[c]i can always get another [g]job
there'll [g]always be some [d]bills to pay
[c]always be some banks to [g]rob

but [g]since i've got this [d]busted back
i'm a [c]self-medicating [g]slob
[g]prolly just gonna stay [d]home from work
and [c]write another country [g]song

ho-[c]sanna ho-[d]sanna
i [g]think you read me [c]wrong
it [c]takes two wrongs to [d]make me right
and [g]two beers to write this [c]song
ho-[c]sanna[d]
you read me [g]wrong

[g7]

ho-[c]sanna ho-[d]sanna
i [g]think you read me [c]wrong
it [c]takes two wrongs to [d]make me right
and [g]two beers to write this [c]song
ho-[c]sanna[d]
you read me [g]wrong

Good or not? I’ll leave that to the music critics.

I happened to like it a lot ….

Very good indeed Steve. You’ve got a good voice too. You’ve also just been added to my youtube favourites list, so feel prous of yourself.

Kinda funny, ‘cos I screwed my rib’s up by sneazing about a week and a half ago, so it’s very appropriate for me right now.

If I can ask, what model Goodtime is that? (I assume it’s a Deering Goodtime) I ask ‘cos I want to get a second banjo to keep around the house and that sounded very nice indeed. Is it open back or not and does it have a tone ring/brass hoop thingy or not is kinda what I’m asking I guess.

    Keep up the good work

    Good show, Steve. Thank you.

To me, it IS a good song! My main criterion for a good song is whether I start humming or mumbling it to myself after it has finished. Yours fits the bill.
