three days of too much quiet
November 17, 2009
The trip to Johns Hopkins yesterday went well, but the doctors had to cut and cauterize the skin around my Baha implant.
Yes, it hurts just as bad as it sounds.
Anyway, I can’t wear my sound processor( the hearing aid that attaches to my implant) for three days – and that means I’m deaf for the next three days.
Oh well. After so many years I can handle three days. It’s just weird not being able to hear my voice again.
This morning I have to run up to Salisbury for the first of three Synvisc shots for my knee. That should be . . . interesting.
In other news, Aaron from Camp Adventure is having hip replacement surgery today. He does a lot of good for a whole lot of people so we are all anxious to see him back on his feet. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers today.

Hi Patrick,
Can you use the little “demo” post that you used to show me how the BAHA works to at least hear for short periods of time?

It’s a good thing that you have no enemies, Patrick, otherwise they would take this opportunity to say things about you, knowing that you could not hear them, and even if you could hear them, you couldn’t run after them to deal them an instructive and corrective martial arts ear clip.
Seriously, though, I am sure that your present pain will soon be gain.
My thoughts are with you, too, Aaron. Your pain will be longer, but it, too, will bring huge gains. Please remember that those who work the most diligently at their rehabilitation, are the ones that gain most from joint replacements. I feel sure that you will do good work for yourself so that you can get back to doing good work for others, for which I thank you.

Best wishes for both of you guys. Keep us updated, Aaron.
