When I got my first Harmonica, my Father would always remind me that they are called a "Mouth Organ." But when I played camp fire songs at Scout Camp, when I got older, I could never call it that. It was always referred to as a "Harmonica." When I started to go to open mic at the Blues Bars, I could never call it either of the 2 names above. I have called it all 3 throughout my life, and to hear it called a "Mouth Harp" reminds me of when I first started playing... I just wish I could make blowing in as many holes as possible sound cool like it use to.
Thanks buddy for the kind words.

Thank you for watching.
I wish there would have been more instructional vid's 15 years ago, I think I would have been much further with playing the Blues Harp.
I really can't say who has been my greatest "instructional Influences" I have been Watching Adam Gussow since he hit Youtube. I have had my mind blown by Jason Ricci. And had a couple of techniques take a change for the better with John Gindick... But I would have to say without a doubt, music really started to make a tons of sense and open up a new enjoyment when I started watching dobro33h on youtube. That is the honest truth.

Great stuff, thank you Banjoman.

I just tried some of it, with a reasonable degree of success. I only have a C mouth organ. (I cannot get used to referring to a mouth organ as a "harp" or as a "harmonica." We used to reserve the name "harp" for one of those wooden upright things with lots of strings, and the name "harmonica" for a mouth organ that had one of those push buttons on the high end that would allow some magical changes to be made.)

In any case, though, I reckon that that was a great lesson on harp and harmonica and mouth organ.

Hi Benjamin,

That was a great little primer of how to get started. Just the how to hold the Harmonica was really helpful. I'm hoping you'll keep these coming, thanks!
