Hi again Patrick!
I want to say a big thanks for teaching me this last year, I cannot stress enough how much help your online workshops and blogs etc have been. It’s been a huge amount of fun and I’ve even managed to figure out the tune which originally made me want to play 5 string banjo. Here’s me playing it

Keep doing what you do and shout me if you ever wish to pay Liverpool a visit !
Cheers,
Wes

Oh Boy, Wes!
That was pretty slick, I can see what made you want to learn it. Is there a name to that tune?
Great job!

Very nice playing, Wes. And those tunes were Loch Lomond and Simple Gifts, I think. Was there a 3rd one in there?
Cheers,
Roger

Yes those tunes mentioned are in there along with Sally Ann. It’s a Steve Martin arrangement. There’s a version on his album the crow which is really great by the way..

That has to be one of the best instrumental solos we’ve had the pleasure to hear on here. Well done Wes. I found the Steve Martin video on YouTube doing this medley. Yours is miles, miles better!
Only been playing for a year ?!

Wes, that blew me away. Just the sort of playing to keep me motivated.

Thank you very much, Wes. Terrific!
I’m sure that my iPod gadget won’t be the only one with your medley to be found on it.

What a great song and you did an outstanding job, way to go pal. It was Steve’s album also and that particular song that pushed me from Scruggs style to the clawhammer style. The one that is posted by someone showing Steve Martin playing it was from a long time ago. He was convinced to slow it down for the album and it really did, in my opinion, make it much better. I sure hope I can get that tune down within the next year. Sure would be nice to see a tab out on that one. I read Tony Trishka is working on a new book covering the songs from the Crow album.
