Arthur in Washington writes:
A most Joyous Thanksgiving to you folks!
I couldn’t get down the road to see my family this year because of the demands of my work. They raised a glass I sang them this song.
Not a good technical rendition but valuable one day for it’s historic importance.Take care and God Bless!

Phew! That was just in the nick of time, thank you. I had just started going into some pretty heavy Art withdrawal symptoms. I feel fine, now.
I hope that you get down that road soon, Art.

Thanks all. I thought this song was fairly obscure but I see that there are nearly 1600 renditions of it on YouTube alone. I’m beginning to feel a connection to this music. Maybe it shows. On another level as I grew into a young adult I had contempt for songs that I learned as a child. I thought them silly and stupid. Lately, I have come to understand that the reason I learned them as a child is that they were still around; in the folk tratidion; timeless or archetypal somehow. I’ve been playing “Yankee Doodle”,”Pop Goes the Weasel” things that played on the jack-in-the-box when you cranked the handle. Having a blast. Maybe silly and stupid isn’t such a bad thing except in traffic.
