The Cat Came Back

Hi Patrick,
We took in a stray cat the other day, and it reminded me of this song. So I did a little Folk song of the day type video for The cat came back, and it gave me a chance to show off our new cat named Nabi.
Tim
Glad that Nabi found a good home. Calico alley cats are the best!

Good on you, Tim. I really like it when the impetus to do a song is something that has happened spontaneously in daily life. I’m sure that Nabi will adopt it as his/her own theme song since you have played it so soon after the adoption.

Great job! I noticed that the chord progression is the same as the main chord progression of Stray Cat Strut. Stray Cat also uses a very similar progression starting on the Dm chord.
Walk Don’t Run uses this progression as well. I wonder how many more songs you have taught us with just this one video?

Thanks for the comments, glad you liked it.
I don’t know Stray Cat Strut, but I’ll definitely look it up since it sounds more appropriate to my situation, thanks!
Hit the road jack also uses this progression. Fred Penner turns this song into a medley playing Hit the Road Cat at the end. I’m sure there’s many more songs with the same progression.
Also, there’s a Doc Watson video on youtube with him playing this song with a major chord progression for those interested.

Seriously? OK
Em D C B(or B7) two beats each chord, repeat forever or until fingers bleed ^^
Lots of variations on the lyrics available, just google and choose the ones you like.
