Countdown
March 17, 2010
As I write this Frailing Banjo Lesson One has 299,808 views. Given the huge number of people watching the video every day we should break 300,000 pretty soon.
That number doesn’t factor in DVD sales or folks accessing the files on archive.org – but it is kind of cool because I was hoping we would get here before my birthday next week.
Update 3/18:
Well that was fast. This morning the stats read 300,077.

Happy nearly birthday, and good luck with the video views *The Final Countdown by Europe starts playing dramatically as Patrick demonstrates the basic frailing strum with big hair and a fan on him in true 80′s hair metal style*

This week we’ve revelled in Saint Patrick’s Day,
With music, good cheer and the wearing of green.
Next week will herald in Our Patrick’s Day,
And on that birthday there will have been seen
“Frailing Banjo Lesson One” more than 300K.
So, Happy Birthday Dear Patrick, from all frailers keen,
And the thousands of banjos that you’ve helped us play.

I just sent this video to my best friend who turned to me the other day and said, “I want to learn banjo.” Looks like I have my first student.

The amazing thing is that most great players out there are barely able to boast those kind of numbers. I think that teaching others is as much of a calling as being a great performer. Good thing Patrick is a generous helping of both.

Where have you gone? Ihaven’t seen anything new. Have you quit doing the workshops?
March 17, 2010 at 8:17 pm
I’m sure that you have 300.000 in a couple of days. I watched this one again and as always that I watch your workshops, I learn alot of new things. Well, each time, I know a little bit more English.
Patrick, thanks again.

When I said “new things” I’m not only speaking about language, of course.
My English is much better now than a couple of years ago (thanks to Patrick) but not good enough yet. I feel that I don’t need to write this reply but I’m not sure what mean what I wrote before. Really I’m not sure what mean exactly what I write now. Any way, this help me to practice my English.
Best wishes

So you see Patrick, the truth of the statement, “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. I don’t think the Lord was merely talking about tithes (money).

Just found out a friend recently got a banjo, because of the whole “do something new after turning Fifty” thing. We can add one more to the count, and I’m going to begin giving him banjo lessons.
